A New 2022 KTM RC390 Sportbike is Coming

KTM is still hard at work getting its updated RC 390 ready for its official debut, as revealed in a recent collection of spy shots. We had expected an update sometime last year after a number of spy shots showed some significant updates, but the 2020 model came and went with only cosmetic changes.

The major deviation from the tester spotted in late 2019 is the front end, which now has a new headlight, indicator lights, and windshield/light cover assembly. The rounded shape is similar to the earlier test model however, and continues to do away with the elongated beak currently in use.

The updated trellis frame and bodywork are still visible, and it’s likely we’ll see revisions to the intake and exhaust systems as well in order for the machine to meet its Euro 5 emissions requirements. Revisions to the 373cc single aren’t likely, especially since we now know that the RC 390′s close sibling, the 390 Duke, only gets an aesthetic revision for 2021.

A color TFT instrument display is visible, which marks another notable upgrade from the current model, but whether that change indicates any electronic system updates remains to be seen. This is a prime area for updates though and it wouldn’t be surprising to see an upgrade to a cornering ABS system.

The WP suspension components appear to carry over, as does the ByBre braking setup.

This update has been a long time coming so we’re not sure when to expect official word from KTM, but as soon as we get notice we’ll fill in all the missing details.
