The 2020 Yamaha MT-10 is Yamaha’s flagship naked bike, utilizing the famed crossplane crankshaft technology derived from the YZF-R1, except tuned to make its raw power delivery more applicable to everyday use. And with good results. In fact, Cycle World has had a longtime respect for the MT’s powerplant. In a first ride review of the 2017 FZ-10—before the adoption of the MT moniker in 2018—contributor Peter Jones noted, “To love any engine is to love this engine. Its sound, its power delivery, the power of its power are all exceptional.”
In addition to its powerful inline-four engine, the MT-10 is equipped with plentiful up-spec features such as fully adjustable front and back KYB suspension, ride-by-wire throttle system, traction control, ABS, and its lightweight and responsive chassis.
The $12,999 price tag—like many of its features—is carried over from 2019. Color options include Ice Fluo and Matte Raven Black.
Competition is fierce in the 1,000cc-plus naked segment and this includes the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100, BMW S 1000 R, Honda CB1000R, KTM 1290 Super Duke R, and Suzuki GSX-S1000 to name a few.
