Yamaha Motor has revealed a roster of updates to its sport-heritage XSR900 new motorcycle at the annual EICMA motorcycle show. For 2025, with some small touches and a few larger changes aimed at creating a smoother ride, regardless of road conditions. It will be available starting in April and be priced at $10,599 in a Raven or Heritage White color.
Editor’s note: We last tested the XSR900 during the 2022 Yamaha XSR900 Second Ride Review article and video.
Riders will enjoy a greater ability to adjust power delivery thanks to two new customizable Yamaha Ride Control modes, which join the existing Sport, Street, and Rain options. Yamaha has also added a Back Slip Regular to mitigate rear-wheel lockups during heavy engine-braking. The Quick Shift System is updated to a third-gen version, which will allow for clutchless up- and downshifts under deceleration and acceleration. There is now also a Variable Speed Limiter built-in allowing riders to create a top-speed preset for the bike.
Information will be displayed on an updated, 5-inch TFT instrument panel that gives riders four different themes to choose from. Riders will be able to link their smartphones to the TFT display via Bluetooth and the Y-Connect app as well. The switch gear comes with a new joystick that aims to improve movement throughout the different functions of the menu and the turn signal function is updated as well, providing an indicator click and three-flash signal along with a self-canceling feature that engages after 15 seconds once the bike has been driven more than 500 feet. There is a new dash-mounted USB-C outlet included as well.
The back end gets an update as well with a new KYB monoshock that gives riders preload, high- and low-speed compression, and rebound adjustment. The linkage is modified too, which Yamaha claims gives “an enhanced feeling of traction at the rear.”
Finally, the seat is revised to improve comfort for both rider and passenger. The handlebar shape, rubber-mount footpegs, shift lever, and clutch lever are all updated as well.
Returning elements of note include a Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle along with an assist and slipper clutch, Brembo radial front master cylinder, lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, wheel lift control, and brake control.
