Doctor’s Orders

Looking to own a new 09 Yamaha R1 with one-off graphics transcribed from one of Valentino Rossi's most famous helmets by Aldo Drudi himself? Perhaps you'd like top-drawer Öhlins suspension at both ends, Roland Sands designer wheels shod with ultra-sticky Bridgestone track day tires, an Akrapovic exhaust system along wtih a stunning selection of sporting tack unlikely to be upstaged by anything less than The Doctor's own works M1? Save your lunch money boys and girls. This is your big chance. A year in the making, the R1 was unveiled at last December's Long Beach Motorcycle Show by it's creator, 1972 Daytona winner Don Emde, as a vehicle to raise money and awareness for the official charity of Moto GP, Riders for Health (www.riders.org): an organization dedicated to delivering essential medical resources to nearly 11 million people living in remote areas of Africa others simply can't reach. They're doing it with 1284 motorcycles, a lot of caring people and a clever system that keeps all those motorcycles running.
Since Riders is based in Europe, Emde formed Friends of Riders for Health (www.friendsofriders.org) here to help out here in the States. Visit the site to learn exactly where and when the auction will take place. Meanwhile, here's are all the juicy details.
