KTM has released its most off-road-capable 390 Adventure to date in the 2025 390 Adventure R, which will start at $6,999. It features a new chassis, the latest LC4c 399cc engine, and rally-inspired design that showcases the bike’s off-road readiness.
The heart of the bike is a 399cc single that makes use of improvements to the cylinder head and gearbox to provide more power more smoothly than previous iterations. It utilizes a Bosch EMS fuel-delivery system with ride-by-wire along with a PASC slipper clutch. Riders can upgrade this setup with a Quickshifter+ system for an additional charge.
The updates to the chassis include a revised two-piece trellis design and a cast aluminum swingarm which relocates the rear shock in order to provide a slightly lower seat height. It’s equipped with the latest WP Apex suspension kit, with a 43mm fully adjustable fork and Separate Piston shock. ByBre braking kit is responsible for providing stopping power.
The 390 Adventure R utilizes a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel configuration for optimal off-road ability and it comes equipped with Mitas Enduro Trail E07+ tires. The bike has a 3.7-gallon fuel tank and rally design that strikes a notable balance between comfort and function.
The bike also comes with a number of electronic systems, including an off-road-calibrated Bosch 9.3MP ABS system, cornering sensitive traction control, three ride modes, and launch control. All settings can be viewed and refined on the 5-inch TFT display tucked safely behind the rally windscreen. Cruise control is available too with additional hardware. The instrument panel also makes it possible to connect the bike to a smartphone via the KTMconnect app, expanding the range of functions available to riders.
All together, the KTM 390 Adventure R promises to be a formidable entry into the small-bore adventure category. We can’t wait to get our hands on one.
