Kawasaki expands its family of electric bikes with the new 2025 Elektrode 20 and Elektrode 20FS. Both bikes will start at $2,199, with the Elektrode 20 coming to dealerships this summer and the 20FS coming to market in the fall.
The 20 and 20FS build on the momentum created by Kawasaki’s original Elektrode balance bike, announced back in 2022. That bike is set up for younger riders however, so the 20 and 20FS seek to open up the ebike possibilities to older kids and “riders of greater stature,” according to Kawasaki press materials.
The newest Elektrodes come with a completely sealed 750W in-wheel brushless motor, chainless drive, 24 mph max speed with three selectable speed modes, and an in-frame battery that offers up to three hours of ride time. In High mode, riders can enjoy an hour of battery life before needing to recharge, and a full charge takes four hours. There’s also an auto sleep function built in that turns off power after 10 inactive minutes to help preserve battery life.
An LCD panel provides information on speed mode selected, and top speed is limited by each. Low allows only a 13 mph top speed, while Mid and High go all the way to 24 mph, though the Mid setting dulls throttle sensitivity.
Both the 20 and 20FS roll on new 20-inch spoked wheels and feature a lightweight aluminum frame. The 20 comes equipped with a fork that offers 2 inches of travel while the 20FS sports a BMX-style rigid fork. Disc brakes feature at both the front and rear.
The Elektrode 20 is intended to accommodate riders up to 132 pounds and comes with an adjustable seat that can sit as low as 21.7 inches or as high as 27.3 inches. The 20FS can handle riders up to 176 pounds and features seat height adjustment between 23.4 inches and 30 inches.
