Klim Revamps Its Dakar Dual-Sport Motorcycle Jacket

The venerable Dakar gets a refresh

The Klim Dakar jacket has been around for years. So long, in fact, that the materials used in the latest update weren’t even around when the original piece hit the market. Getting with the times was only one reason the Rigby, Idaho-based brand decided to revise the Dakar. The other was to provide a more effective off-road and dual-sport jacket across multiple seasons.

Lightweight and durable. That’s what’s made the Klim Dakar jacket so popular over the years.Klim

At its core, the Dakar is still a lightweight and breathable option. It’s got a 600-denier chassis complemented by Karbonite micromesh on the back and in stretch zones for breathability and abrasion resistance. There’s also 500-denier, four-way-stretch material in key areas like the elbows and shoulders to make moving around in the jacket easier and more comfortable.

Zip-off sleeves allow the Dakar to be worn in a vest configuration.Klim

There are zip-off sleeves for a vest configuration on hot days. Or if you like keeping the sleeves in place but need some air, you’ll have two wrist, two bicep, two back, and two sleeve hole vents you can open up.

Klim outfitted the Dakar with elbow, shoulder, and back pockets to house optional D3O armor, which is sold separately. The brand understood that many off-road and dual-sport riders opt to wear other forms of body protection under the jacket, so designed the new Dakar to fit comfortably over those as well.

There’s 3M Scotchlite reflective material throughout the exterior of the jacket for better visibility and loads of storage thanks to two chest, two hand, one rear, and two chest liner pockets.

A favorite of off-road and dual-sport riders, the Klim Dakar jacket is better than ever in 2019.Klim

The new Dakar isn’t waterproof on its own, but is streamlined enough to allow rain shells to easily fit over the top.

Riders needing a new dual-sport jacket can get the revamped Dakar now in sizes small through 3XL in either black, gray, or tan.
