Klim Krios Pro Adventure Motorcycle Helmet First Look

Klim has a new top-shelf adventure helmet for riders in the Krios Pro, an evolution of the popular lid the brand released a few years back. Klim refined some of the elements of the base to create the Pro version and added new impact-absorbing technology called Koroyd in lieu of traditional EPS.

The Koroyd bit is pretty interesting. There have been a number of helmets lately to employ omni-directional impact-absorbing designs, like Bell’s MIPS, but few have scrapped traditional EPS entirely. The Krios Pro does just that, becoming the first North American DOT helmet to use the new material, and from the looks of things Koroyd may be popping up in quite a few helmets in the future. Klim explains some of the key benefits of Koroyd to include better impact absorption, ventilation, and structural integrity in extreme temperatures. It’s a copolymer material shaped into miniature tubes that are thermally welded together, allowing for low density and high compression strength.

On top of the impact layer is the tried-and-true handlaid carbon-fiber shell that Klim used on its original Krios. Klim changed the visor for a more stable and quiet helmet, however.

Another notable upgrade is the Transitions face shield, which comes standard on the Krios Pro. This is a great feature that changes tint in response to light conditions. The shield is also Pinlock ready.

The shield and visor can be removed without tools, so if you need to make the switch to goggles mid-ride, you can do it quickly and easily. This allows rider to choose from a number of configurations depending on what they need—visor on/goggles, visor off/shield on, etc.

There’s still a large, MX-style chin vent, brow vent, and exhaust ports similar to the original Krios, as well as a rear spoiler to improve stability at speed. Inside is a Klimatek antimicrobial and moisture-wicking liner.

The Krios Pro prices at $699 and comes in sizes XS through 3XL. There’s Arsenal Dune, Arsenal Gray, and Matte Black colorways to choose from now, and we expect more to be added later on down the road.
