Suzuki has announced a new addition to its 2020 V-Strom 650 family, the V-Strom 650XT Adventure. This bike builds off the XT platform, which is a bit more adventure-capable than the stock 650 thanks to tubeless, spoked tires, and adds even more.
The extra adventure accessories include 37-liter aluminum panniers, an accessory bar, hand guards, centerstand, handlebar cross brace, and mirror extensions. It will start at $10,399 and be available in a Pearl Vigor Blue colorway starting November 2019.
The 650XT Adventure is powered by the tried-and-true 645cc V-twin engine that has made the V-Strom 650 a favorite among middleweight adventure riders. It’s equipped with Suzuki’s Advanced Traction Control system, Easy Start system, and Low RPM Assist. There’s a six-speed gearbox made to provide plenty of usable torque when you need it while also offering a taller sixth gear for smooth highway rides.
The engine is held within a twin-spar aluminum frame and the bike utilizes a spring-preload adjustable telescopic fork and link-type single shock to soak up bumps. It comes with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear Bridgestone Battlax tires, dual 310mm disc brakes at the front and a 260mm rear disc at the rear, as well as ABS.
LED lighting is used throughout, and riders can make use of the 12-volt DC outlet mounted on the inner dash to charge electric devices as needed. It also has a 5.3-gallon fuel tank.
The 650XT Adventure is essentially the bike many riders have built for themselves from the base 650. This is a welcome options package for riders who want a dialed adventure rig straight off the showroom floor.
