Midrange adventure bikes are some of the most popular sellers, and Suzuki became a major player in the category when it released its V-Strom 800DE and 800DE Adventure for 2023. The bike, released alongside the GSX-8S, uses the new 776cc parallel-twin engine with the Suzuki Cross Balancer, the first of its type on a production motorcycle to position its two balancers at 90 degrees to the crankshaft for smoother operation. The bike makes a claimed 83 hp at 8,500 rpm, which is competitive in its middleweight adventure class. The models return for 2024 unchanged except for some added color options.
The standard V-Strom 800DE is focused on exploring diverse terrains with ease. It features a 21-inch front wheel, long-travel suspension, and enhanced ground clearance, ensuring it can confidently handle rough trails. For those who require even more touring capability, the V-Strom 800DE Adventure adds quick-release black-anodized 37L aluminum side cases, an aluminum skid plate, and an “accessory” bar that helps protect the front bodywork from brush and perhaps even the ground in the event of a tip-over (aka crashbars).
The bikes use the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) that includes three riding modes, a four-level traction control system with off, up/down quickshifter, two-mode AB, Low RPM Assist, and Suzuki’s Easy Start. With its combination of off-road worthiness and on-road comfort, the V-Strom 800DE series is designed to take on whatever the journey demands.
The 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is priced at $11,599 and is available in Champion Yellow No. 2 and Pearl Tech White. For those seeking additional touring features, the 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE Adventure is offered at $13,049 and comes in Metallic Matte Steel Green.
