Overview

Suzuki launched the GSX-S1000 in 2015, chasing the craze for high-horsepower naked sportbikes. Suzuki wisely recycled a much-loved powerplant—the K5 GSX-R1000 of 2005–06. The GSX-S1000 became a favorite among not only customers but journalists worldwide, and in typical Suzuki fashion, the bike remained stagnant until finally getting an update in 2022. The revision included sharper lines, updated electronics, and a revamped powerplant. And for 2024, the GSX-S1000 returns again as a carryover from the 2022 model, but with some updated color options.

Powered by a 999cc inline-four engine that’s basically a detuned GSX-R1000 engine, the GSX-S1000 offers smooth, linear power delivery that makes it as capable on curvy roads as it is in the city. For those who like minimalist touring, the bike is comfortable enough to go the distance; just slap on some soft bags and tour (or upgrade to the GSX-S1000GT or GSX-S1000GX).

The GSX-S1000 arrives with three ride modes (Active, Basic, and Comfort), five traction control settings plus off, and a standard up/down quickshifter as part of its S.I.R.S. (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System), along with Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist and Easy Start features. Its sharp, muscular design is complemented by a comfortable, upright riding position, KYB suspension, and Brembo front brakes, making the GSX-S1000 a performance machine and a practical choice for daily commutes and weekend adventures.
