These are the most fuel-efficient motorcycles in 2023.

Note that fuel economy may be affected by a number of factors: riding style, road conditions, load, tire pressure, etc. This list contains a mixture of manufacturer claims, reader testimony, and averages found during our testing.

2023 Honda Grom

Honda’s Grom takes the fuel-sipping gold.Honda

The 2023 Honda Grom is an outstanding fuel sipper. One reader nearly achieved Honda’s claimed figure of 166.5 mpg. They tallied 165 mpg on their country roads and 100 mpg at 50-plus speeds (the latter also lines up with our testing figures). Even when it’s pushed, the 125cc single is a little engine that goes the distance, little fuel required.

2023 Honda NC750X DCT

The NC750X strikes a chord among readers for its efficient performance.Honda

When we tested the NC750X during our MC Commute, it hit a notable 53.5 mpg. We mentioned that figure in our last version of this story and readers chimed in. One said theirs “gets 70 mpg easy” whereas reader Cheis Read wrote that his 2020 model “regularly returns over 80 mpg with mixed riding. On steady runs it often returns 90 mpg.” That pretty much cements the NC750X in this list.

2023 Kawasaki Versys-X 300

Not only is the Versys-X 300 comfortable and capable, but it’s also economical.Kawasaki

Developments like EFI have helped improve the amount of fuel entering the engine so that it runs as efficiently as possible. The Kawasaki Versys-X 300, like many other modern motorcycles, uses this, which is one factor that helps it achieve more than 60 mpg from its parallel twin. One reader averaged 70 mpg.

2023 Suzuki V-Strom 650

As a middleweight ADV, Suzuki’s V-Strom still knows how to get the most out of its large 5.3-gallon fuel tank.Suzuki

The GSX250R would have been here, seeing as readers have claimed 75 mpg, but the small sportbike is not on Suzuki’s 2023 roster (yet), so for now, it will reside in the Honorable Mentions section at the bottom of this story. The Suzuki V-Strom 650 is available for 2023 and readers have claimed fuel economy figures around 57 mpg.

2023 Honda CB300R

Small bikes like the CB300R are solid performers when it comes to fuel economy.Honda

The Honda CB300R is as easy on the wallet as it is on fuel. This $5,049 naked bike has a 286cc liquid-cooled single that draws fuel from a 2.6-gallon fuel tank. In a past comparison review between the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and KTM 390 Duke, the smaller CB300R recorded a favorable 54.1 mpg.

Honorable Mentions

Honda Rebel 300 (tested 57.8 mpg)

Honda CBR500R (tested 67 mpg)

Honda XR650L (claimed 52 mpg)
