Classic Kawasaki riders rejoice, as the Japanese manufacturer will be reproducing inline-four cylinder head components for its Z1, KZ900, and KZ1000 streetbikes. Would-be customers can purchase engine top end hardware as a kit, including camshaft brackets, tappers, valves, and related hardware. Camshafts, cylinder head cover, and gaskets, however, are not included.
“In order to meet the needs of Z1 owners and collectors, Kawasaki has decided to reproduce cylinder heads for the Z1, KZ900, and KZ1000,” Kawasaki Motors Corp. said in a press release.
The engine hard parts will be built in its Japanese factories, using modern manufacturing methods. The hardware will be replicated using original part designs and specifications. The cylinder heads will be produced in either silver or black finishes and will cost $2,270 and $2,370, respectively.
US Kawasaki dealerships are accepting orders. Additionally, interested parties can visit Kawasaki’s vehicle accessory page to learn more.
It’s rare for an Japanese motorcycle company to reproduce parts that are nearly 50 years old. But also a good sign for collectors who want to keep their machines running tip-top.
