Yamaha has revealed a number of updates to its fan-favorite MT-07 naked standard for 2021. Style changes lead the way, with designers aiming to give the bike an even more pronounced “Dark Side of Japan” look. There are also improvements to the braking components and cockpit which, all together, result in a $100 increase in MSRP over last year’s model. The bike will be available in authorized dealerships starting January at $7,699.

The bodywork is slimmed-down compared to the 2020 model, with panels surrounding the tank and radiator reshaped for a more aggressive and streamlined look. The headlight assembly is also revised with a new LED light taking center stage. The light promises a stronger high and low beam and is flanked by new LED indicator lights that bring the bike’s look closer to that of its older sibling, the MT-09. There are new LED indicator lights at the back as well.

Other stylistic touches include Crystal Graphite engine covers and a new silver-color exhaust pipe, muffler, and exhaust protector.
The cockpit promises to be more comfortable for riders too, thanks to wider aluminum handlebars. An updated LCD instrument panel is larger making the standard ride information easier to see.
Braking is improved thanks to larger wave discs at the front, up from 282mm to 298mm each.
Michelin’s versatile Road 5 tires will come standard on the new MT-07 also.
The bike will come in three different colorways: Storm Fluo, Team Yamaha Blue, and Matte Raven Black.
