Moto Guzzi is giving one of its preeminent platforms, the V7, a major update for the 2021 model year. It gets a bigger, more powerful engine, better chassis components, and updated ergonomic elements for a more user-friendly and fun motorcycle.
Two versions are planned, the V7 Stone and V7 Special. To mark the significance of the coming update Guzzi has also chosen to drop its Roman numeral naming convention, which began when the V7 returned to market in 2007.
The new V7 packs a new 850cc twin, derived from the engine used in the V85 TT. The mill provides more power and pull than the previous engine, up to 52 hp at 6,200 rpm and 54 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm with 80 percent of the bike’s pull available at 3,000 rpm.
Additionally, there’s a larger Cardan final drive, a wider, 150/70-17 rear tire, and new Kayaba shocks out back which provide more travel than before. The frame is also changed to accommodate the new engine.
The V7 Stone gets a full LED lighting system and updated instrument panel. The instrument panel retains the classic circular look but provides all pertinent ride information digitally. The V7 Special will still sport the dual dial analog instrument display.
Passenger comfort will be improved on both bikes thanks to a new two-tier saddle and new rider footpegs. Both also come with updated side panels and rear mudguards. The Stone will roll on six-spoke aluminum rims while the Special will retain more classic-looking spoked wheels.
The V7 Special will come in Blu Formale (blue) and Grigio Casual (gray) colorways. The V7 Special will be available in Nero Ruvido (black), Azzurro Ghiaccio (ice blue), and Arancione Rame (orange) colorways. No word yet on price, full specs, or availability for either model.
