Hot on the wheels of Aprilia’s recently introduced and everyday person’s RS 660 sportbike, the Italian factory announces a naked version in the 2021 Tuono 660. In typical Aprilia fashion, the Tuono will share the RS 660′s underpinnings and general design.
Editor’s note: We’ve covered the RS 660 in review forms during the 2021 Aprilia RS 660 First Ride Review and 2021 Aprilia RS 660 MC Commute Review articles/videos. We also speak about its technical underpinnings in the 2021 Aprilia RS 660 Preview First Look, 2020 Aprilia RS 660 First Look Preview, and 2021 Aprilia RS 660 Technical Review articles.
“The Tuono 660 is a truly modern sport naked bike, arriving with the same technology derived from the highest-level machines on the market,” says Aprilia’s PR and Events Manager, Shane Pacillo. “Optimized for street comfort in an exciting and approachable middleweight. It is the machine many of us have been waiting for and are thrilled to finally have arrive.”
Instead of clip-on-style controls, the Tuono gets a handlebar making for a more upright riding position. Shorter final drive gearing, different triple clamp offset, and specific suspension damping settings round out the list of changes.
Available in three colors (Concept Black, Iridium Gray, and Acid Gold), the Tuono 660 does away with the RS’s full side fairings. It also swaps out its passenger seat cover for an actual pillion. Lower final drive gearing will give the RS a much needed acceleration boost, especially in the taller gears. A variety of touring-friendly accessories, including fabric tank and tail bags that neaty integrate into the Tuono’s design. Curb weight remains unchanged at 403 pounds with its 4-gallon fuel tank topped off. The 2021 Tuono 660 will arrive in US Aprilia motorcycle dealerships this April.
