Aprilia has unveiled its redesigned RSV4 and RSV4 Factory for the 2021 model year, with a range of updates to the bodywork, chassis, and engine.
The Euro 5-compliant V-4 will provide more torque and power than before (pumping out a claimed 217 hp) thanks to an increase in displacement from 1,077cc to 1,099cc and a revised exhaust system.
A new Marelli 11MP ECU and six-axis inertial measurement unit will electronically manage power delivery and performance through six riding modes. Three modes will be specifically for the track, with two customizable settings, and three modes will be geared for street riding. The ride-by-wire and APRC systems were optimized as well.
The chassis benefits from a new swingarm with a lighter lower brace derived from the RS-GP.
Ergonomics are improved as well, with a new fuel tank and saddle that provide a more relaxed riding position. These updates also flow seamlessly into the new bodywork, which was inspired by the shape of the RS 660. Aprilia aimed to optimize aerodynamic efficiency with the bodywork revisions, and built its winglets into the double-wall fairings, rather than have them be additional pieces bolted on to the panels.
The RSV4 will be available only in a Dark Losail colorway and will price at $18,999 in the US. The RSV4 Factory will come in Aprilia Black and Lava Red colorways and price at $25,999 in the US. The Factory version includes upgraded parts like forged aluminum rims, semi-active Öhlins EC 2.0 suspension, and Brembo Stylema brake calipers.
More details on both bikes are expected in the coming weeks, but both are expected to hit dealership floors at the end of March 2021.
