The 2020 Monster Energy Supercross season will resume later this month after being suspended following the Daytona Supercross round in early March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Round 11 of the 17-round season is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, at the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. This marks the return of one of the world’s largest professional motorcycle racing series.
“We’re excited to continue our work with Feld Entertainment [owners of the Supercross series], Rice-Eccles Stadium at the University of Utah, and the Utah Department of Health Services,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO, Utah Sports Commission. “Their continued support along with Utah's Governor Gary R. Herbert have made it possible for Supercross' return to Utah, We also look forward to showcasing Utah worldwide via Supercross' global footprint."
All seven events will run without fan attendance. However the competition will be broadcasted on NBC Sports. Fans can also livestream races via the NBC Sports Gold "Supercross Pass" and internationally with the Supercross Video Pass.
Unlike other professional sports, dirt bike racing has minimal human contact among competitors due to the nature of the sport and the protective race gear competitors wear. Additionally, the series will implement safety measures according to all federal, Utah state, and local health guidelines.
