The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has brought the 2020 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season to a halt. Event organizers have canceled the remaining rounds of the schedule, but hold out hopes that the races can be rescheduled for later this year.
Races in Indianapolis, Detroit, and Seattle had already been canceled. Series organizers opted to suspend the championship indefinitely on March 25 in order to give fans a chance to claim refunds if desired.
Here is a full rundown of remaining rounds that have been called off:
April 4 in Denver, CO
April 18 in Foxborough, MA
April 25 in Las Vegas, NV
May 2 in Salt Lake City, UT
A brief announcement from the FIM and Feld Entertainment claims the series suspension is in place until further notice, and states that it intends to reschedule the canceled rounds later this year. However, at this time there’s no information on the dates or locations of these races.
This announcement comes as no surprise too, as cities, states, and entire countries around the world limit social gatherings and interaction in order to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The 2020 IOMTT has also been canceled, MotoGP events have been postponed, and manufacturers like Harley-Davidson and Yamaha have suspended production operations.
