In 2019, the Indian FTR 1200 Rally was only introduced to European markets, now, for 2020 the FTR Rally makes its way across the pond to North America. The 2020 Indian FTR 1200 Rally is a scrambler-styled machine that is built off of the original FTR 1200 foundation, but features the rally windscreen, taller handlebar, brown seat, and Titanium Smoke paint. Occasional light off-road duties breaking up some of your day-to-day riding could be had on this machine thanks to the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, taller ProTaper handlebar, and spoked rims. It is powered by a 1,203cc V-twin engine.
We rode the Rally and found it “hits scrambler style on the head, but the street-tuned ABS adds a challenge to any real scrambling. Is it cooler than the base FTR 1200? Yes, absolutely. But is it $2,000 cooler for what is essentially just a stylish accessory package? You be the judge.”
Scrambler models serve as the competition and these include the BMW R nineT Scrambler, Ducati Scrambler, and Triumph Scramblers.
2020 is the first year the FTR 1200 Rally has showed up Stateside, though the model was available in Europe for 2019, and similar aesthetic items were previously offered as accessories. It will come in the Titanium Smoke colorway for a starting MSRP of $13,499.
