From college kids to grocery getters, the Honda Ruckus is a bare-bones, around-town scooter for those looking for a straightforward ride. Press the electric start button, twist the wrist, and make the 49cc single-cylinder engine go. Thanks to its automatic transmission there’s no clutch work required! Its tubular frame and simple design make it a custom builder’s playground as well. Take this two-stroke Ruckus seen at the 2017 Ride For Kids or the countless seen on Instagram for example.
A few years back we took the Ruckus to The Dragon for an apex dominating (?) riding experience. We noted: “It shows that getting more people to ride isn’t hard, and doesn’t require marketing magic. Build something fun and cheap and more people will ride them. And these riders choose the Ruckus. Many have owned sportbikes, cruisers, and high-capacity ADV bikes, or even have them in the garage, but choose the smaller bikes because of the purity of the riding experience. And I can see why.” Some would argue that the Ruckus is its own breed of two wheels, but for the sake of getting people in seats other cult classics like Honda’s own Super Cub and Metropolitan, and even the Yamaha Zuma 125 serve as competition because of their around-town capabilities.
No major updates were announced. The Ruckus is available in black or white with a red seat.
