While the custom motorcycle scene is popular, it’s rare that a motorcycle company seeks to create a “custom-inspired” motorcycle for consumers. Triumph took the risk in creating the Bonneville Bobber and it has been heralded as a monumental success. It looks as though a famous bike builder sculpted the machine instead of being rolled off an assembly line.
The Triumph Bonneville Bobber harks back to the days of the low slung, single seat, hardtail cruiser but features modern technology and comforts including two rider modes, traction control, and ABS. The most prominent design features of the Bonneville Bobber is the adjustable floating single seat and stripped down styling. The hardtail design is a cleverly disguised “swing cage” with hidden monoshock suspension and, to complete the retro aesthetics, the rear hub is disguised to look like an old drum brake. Mid-mount foot pegs offer comfort and the wide drag bars offer increased control and handling on matter where you ride.
Where the Bonneville Bobber truly shines is with its throttle-by-wire, liquid-cooled, 6-speed, 1,200cc High Torque engine which produces 78.2 ft-lb of torque at 4,000 rpm and 78 hp at 6,100 rpm. The Bonneville Bobber might just be the most custom non-custom bike and boulevard cruiser of 2017. It will undeniably garner the attention and admiration of all those who lay eyes upon it.
The Bonneville Bobber is priced at $11,900 and comes in four colors: Jet Black, Competition Green, Morello Red, and Ironstone.
“The salty old guy in me wanted to hate this bike because of the name, but the new 1200cc engine and unique mono shock chassis on this bike are just SO nice I never had a choice but to love it.” Morgan Gales - Editor, Street Chopper Magazine
