Rev'It has some choice items in its fall/winter 2018 release, covering ADV and urban riders. Updates to existing models and brand-new items are available, as are a selection of gloves and base layers. We're going to take a look at some of the standout items below.
The second-generation Poseidon jacket and pant are claimed to be the product of massive rider feedback, with REV'IT! claiming lighter and better-fitting pieces than the original. They'll still keep you dry out there though, with a blend of two-layer and three-layer Gore-Tex utilized in the outer shell. A Gore-Tex storm collar (removable) on the jacket adds a layer of defense against the elements. Highly abrasion-resistant SuperFabric is used in key areas along with plenty of reflective elements, fitment adjusters, and pockets throughout. A Ventilation Control System with aqua-defense design is purportedly easier than ever to use when you need to adjust breathability. Inside is a removable thermal liner and Seeflex Level 2 protectors in the shoulders, elbows, and knees. Seesoft CE Level 2 back protector inserts can be fit into the jacket but are sold separately.
The Ridge GTX is an interesting piece, made from a laminated 3L Gore-Tex outer shell. It too has a removable Gore-Tex storm collar and waterproofed seals on the ventilation intakes/exhausts. It's an uncluttered design, with two hand-warmer pockets, a chest pocket, and a cargo pocket at the back. There are a YKK aqua-seal main zipper and pant connection zippers. And for impact protection, you get Seeflex armor in the shoulders and elbows along with pockets in the chest and back which can accommodate Seesoft CE Level 2 protectors.
The Triomphe is a hooded parka design, made for three seasons. It comes with a removable thermal liner inside and packs a 100-percent-waterproof outer shell made from polyamide PWR fabric. The shell holds Seesmart protectors in the shoulders and elbows, and there's plenty of storage thanks to chest and hand-warmer cargo pockets.
Another entry in the urban line, the West End jacket looks like a casual, long winter jacket, but its 750-denier PWR shell provides abrasion and tear resistance and the Hydratex-lite waterproofing gives you some protection from the elements. There's a detachable thermal liner in the West End, along with CE Level 1 impact protection at the shoulders and elbows.
The new Kodiak GTX gloves feature a Gore-Tex membrane and 3M Thinsulate G insulation, so you'll stay warm and dry in the most inclement weather. The gauntlet-style gloves have a thermo-pressed knuckle protector underneath a piece of leather, alongside TPU palm sliders and a Seesoft palm slider for added protection. They're smartphone compatible and have reflective elements on the exterior to up your visibility in low-light conditions.
The Climate 2 jacket is meant to be worn as a form-fit mid-layer, and REV'IT! has designed the piece using Polartec Alpha insulation, material originally developed for US Navy SEALs. The exterior features PWR rip-stop material with polyester stretch panels down the sides of the torso and inside the arms. It's partially perforated in the armpits for added breathability. Since this is meant to be a base layer, there's no impact protection included with the Climate 2, but if you're looking to get your hands on a reliable, warm, and well-designed jacket to add to your arsenal, the Climate 2 seems a solid bet.
