New for the 2024 model year is BMW’s R 1300 GS adventure bike, which we reported on during the 2024 BMW R 1300 GS Adventure Bike Preview article. Recently BMW Motorrad hosted its official press introduction and we were there. Here are the top 10 features of this ADV after spending a few hours on it, divided into off-road and road riding categories.
- You wouldn’t believe how agile and nimble this bike is on the trail.
- These sharp and serrated footpegs and rear brake pedal are awesome.
- We don’t know how BMW does it but its 19-inch front wheel and Telelever suspension and 17-inch back wheel paired with paralever suspension/drivetrain works marvelously off-road.
- The electronics on the R 1300 GS are world class—we love the amount of adjustability it has for off-road riders.
- The ergonomics on this bike are awesome. This thing feels like you’re riding a 450 dirt bike.
- This suspension—you wouldn’t believe how well this bike glides over rough pavement, plus it still has a good amount of road holding in the twisties.
- The 1,300cc boxer twin. Wow, this thing pumps out some power and it’s smoother and has less vibration than the predecessor.
- The ergonomics on the bike just plain work. This is a very comfortable motorcycle to log miles on.
- The R 1300 GS has all the bells and whistles: heated grips, heated seat, plus a really advanced electronics package that is really easy to use.
