The following report is filed with the NHTSA:

Report Receipt Date: February 25, 2016
NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V109000
Component(s): Hydraulic brake system
Potential Number of Units Affected: 1,984
Manufacturer: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.)

THE RECALL: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2014 NSS300 and NSS300A Forza scooters (click here to see the 2014 First Ride review) manufactured from June 18, 2013, to September 12, 2013. The rear brake line connection on the affected vehicles may have been improperly tightened, allowing brake fluid to leak.

WHAT COULD HAPPEN: If the rear brake line leaks, there would be a reduction in rear brake pressure and therefore rear braking function, increasing the risk of a crash.

THE FIX: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will tighten the rear brake line connection to specification, and fill the rear brake fluid reservoir, as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009. Honda's number for this recall is JY3.

MORE RECALL INFORMATION: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to safercar.gov.
