For 2025, the YZF-R3 gets an aesthetic makeover, with updated bodywork that aims to mimic the design of its larger sibling, the YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M. This includes a new front fairing and updated body panels along with a refashioned tail wing section. The bodywork changes also allow for a narrower seat and side covers to give riders with shorter inseams an easier reach to the ground.
In terms of mechanics, the YZF-R3 remains largely unchanged apart from a new assist and slipper clutch. This setup makes use of assist and slip cams to smooth out downshifts and engine-braking while also making clutch pull at the bars easier.

The bike also comes with updated LED lighting throughout, an updated LCD instrument display, along with the ability to connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth through the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect (Y-Connect) app. This will give riders info about incoming calls and other notifications, bike status updates, and data tracking functionality.
