At this year’s EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, Yamaha Motor showed off its new and improved 2025 Ténéré 700. With its capable design, easy-riding platform, and affordable price tag, this middleweight ADV is one of our favorite adventure motorcycles, and for 2025 it gets even better.
Editor’s note: We last operated this vehicle during the Everything You Need To Know About the 2024 Yamaha Ténéré 700, Top 5 - Riding Yamaha’s Ténéré 700 Off-Road, 2024 Yamaha Ténéré 700 Review and the Top 5 Features of Yamaha’s ‘24 Ténéré 700 articles and videos.
For ‘25, the Tuning Fork brand adds its Yamaha Chip Control Throttle (YCC-T) to the Ténéré 700. That’s basically Yamaha’s version of a ride-by-wire throttle. Yamaha was an early pioneer with ride-by-wire throttle technology with its 2005 WaveRunner (personal watercraft), then fitted on its 2006 YZF-R6 sportbike. The only other early adopters in the motorcycle segment were Ducati and Aprilia.
This technology affords adjustable engine power and throttle maps (Sport and Explorer settings/maps). It also adds traction control, so now you can tune the powerband and the traction control settings to your liking. Other changes include a revised air intake. This liquid-cooled 689cc CP2 parallel-twin engine is still good for right around 61 hp and 42 lb.-ft. of torque, but that torque comes right off idle, making it really easy to clear obstacles out on the trail.
Another valuable improvement is the ability to fine-tune fork spring preload via adjusters atop each fork leg. The rider’s seat is said to have a flatter contour, and the fuel cap has been redesigned for easy filling at gas stations.
The bodywork now boasts a more aggressive front end with a one-piece fairing and updated quad LED headlights. And another handy feature is the larger vertical 6.3-inch color TFT display (resembling a digital rally roadbook) with a USB-C charging port and more chunky switch gear. The 2025 Ténéré 700 retails for $10,999, that’s $200 more than the 2024 model.
