Suzuki’s latest batch of returning models includes the 2024 GSX250R ABS, an unintimidating entry-level ride that slots back into the brand’s 2024 North American sportbike lineup. It’s a bike we featured in our Top 5 Motorcycles for Trackday Beginners article earlier this year as a solid pick for riders just starting to explore the boundaries of the racetrack. While MSRP for the sleekly styled rig goes up by $100, nothing else on the smallest GSX gets a redo; even the color is the same as last year.
The fully faired, quarter-liter sportbike scores points for its aggressive styling, but if you’re expecting track-shredding performance worthy of the GSX prefix, you might be a little disappointed; the tried-and true 248cc parallel-twin engine is better known for its mellow powerband and good for only a claimed 25 hp. That said, it’s a good fit for newbies just looking to get a feel for power management on the track, with a low seat height, slim fuel tank, and overall light weight also adding to the wee Suzook’s appealing nature. Ten-spoke aluminum wheels, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and a tuned KYB fork keep the bike responsive for city streets as well as the open road, though front suspension is of the basic, nonadjustable variety; the rear monoshock is preload adjustable. With a 4-gallon fuel tank and highly efficient powerplant, the 2024 GSX250R ABS could be seen as one of the more practical choices in the entry-level sportbike market.
This year’s model breaks the five grand mark at $5,099 (it was $4,999 last year), which is still a pretty price tag these days for a brand-new motorcycle. Unchanged from last year however is the GSX250R ABS’s two-tone Metallic Diamond Red and Pearl Nebular Black paint scheme—the only color available—and you can only get it with ABS, which is fine by us. Nevertheless, its low MSRP means this Suzuki 250 continues to be a great value in the class.
