2025 Suzuki GSX-S1000 Preview

Suzuki’s naked GSX-S1000 finally gets a new TFT dash for 2025.

Literbike power on a supersport budget: Suzuki’s GSX-S1000 returns for 2025.Suzuki

Suzuki’s GSX-S1000 has always been something of a dark horse in the super-naked world. It’s never had the sheer horsepower or electronic sophistication of other brands’ flagship nakeds, but 150-plus horsepower for under $12K remains a best-in-class offering even today.

As such, the naked Gixxer has earned its fair share of fans since its introduction back in 2016, especially after its most recent (and much-needed) redesign in 2022. One thing that’s always been lacking on the GSX-S1000, however, is a decent dashboard, and Suzuki is finally addressing that issue for 2025.

The familiar 5-inch TFT display is confirmed for American markets this year.Suzuki

Suzuki’s 5-inch TFT display is now standard equipment. Interestingly enough this is the same screen currently found on the GSX-8S rather than the larger 6.5-inch screen that comes on the GSX’s GT and GX stablemates.

Other than that, the 2025 GSX-S1000 stays true to the formula of the 2024 model. The one notable exception is the addition of two new colors for 2025, one of which happens to be a reprise of the handsome “glass sparkle black” last seen in 2023.

Suzuki added the Bruce Wayne treatment to the 2025 GSX-S1000 offerings.Suzuki

That means the same 999cc inline-four powerplant is still at work here, which borrows much of its architecture from the legendary K5 GSXR-1000 superbike. The engine is still good for the same claimed 152 hp as well, despite the addition of Euro 5+ compliance, which Suzuki has pulled off without adding a single pound to the bike’s 472-pound curb weight.

Four-piston Brembo front brakes, a fully adjustable 43mm KYB fork, and preload-and-rebound adjustable shock are still standard equipment as well, all of which we found well-suited for both street and track use during our last in-depth test ride back in 2022. The same goes for the GSX’s electronics suite, which still lacks an IMU but includes three power modes, five traction control settings, and an up/down quickshifter as standard equipment.

Lean-sensitive rider aids still aren’t part of the package for 2025, but we never felt limited by the electronics during our last outing with the GSX-S1000.Suzuki

MSRP is confirmed at $11,909 in the States, which means the new TFT dash comes at a $210 premium over 2024′s LCD-equipped bike. That means Suzuki’s position as class leader in bang-for-the-buck performance is safe for another year, as is its always-willing and insanely reliable 999cc engine.

Don’t believe the hype: 150 ponies is still more than enough to get the job done, whatever that job may be.Suzuki
