The KLX230SM is powered by a 233cc SOHC air-cooled single engine that is calibrated to provide plenty of torque. The bike utilizes a steel perimeter frame that is suspended by a 37mm telescopic fork and preload-adjustable Uni-Trak rear suspension, both of which benefit from stiffer springs.
Last year Kawasaki introduced a handful of updates that applied to the family of road-friendly KLX230 machines, which also includes the KLX230S and KLX230S ABS dual sport bikes. These updates mean riders of the 2025 KLX230SM can also pair their bike to a smartphone by way of the Kawasaki Rideology app.

Braking is handled by a 300mm semi-floating petal disc and twin-piston caliper at the front along with a single-piston, 220mm disc setup at the rear. The bike is styled to be a spitting image of its older sibling, the KLX300SM, and rolls on 17-inch wheels front and rear.
It’s an infinitely approachable beginner bike that’s perfect for new riders, or riders new to supermoto.
