We know that Honda’s announced that the Navi, Monkey, Grom, and the Dax 125 models will be in its US 2025 miniMOTO lineup, but the brand has also confirmed the return of the Trail125, a popular model in lots of other global markets that’s equal parts trail bike, commuter, and grocery-getter. There are no changes to the versatile runabout this year; after minor tweaks to the Trail’s single-cylinder engine and exhaust internals in 2023, Honda has decided to leave well enough alone for 2025, so what you get is the same fuel-injected 124cc air-cooled two-valve engine that powers the Super Cub—though retuned and with different gearing for the Trail. And of course, you get the Trail125′s insanely cool, retro styling that instantly transports you back to the glory days of the 1970s and ‘80s, when CT70s and CT110s ruled America’s campgrounds.
Part of the Trail’s appeal is due to its versatility and ease of use—it’s still built around the same rugged step-through steel frame, and the four-speed semi-automatic transmission with an automatic centrifugal clutch lets new riders and vets alike click through the gears (N-1-2-3-4) without needing to worry about a clutch lever so they can focus more on the terrain at hand. And unlike its CT predecessors, the new Trail125 boasts fuel injection, electronic ignition, electric starting, and LED lighting.
As before, the steel frame supports trail-managing components like a 27mm inverted telescopic fork, dual shocks, and 17-inch spoked wheels wearing dual sport semi-knobby tires. The Trail also still packs the same upswept muffler and handy cargo rack out back as last year’s model, and a centerstand is included too. In fact, all the other stuff we’ve raved about in past reviews return in the 2025 model as well, including the Trail’s excellent fuel economy, completely endearing fun factor, and yes, even a kickstarter.
There’s not much else to report for 2025 except that this year the Trail125 will be available in Glowing Red or Pearl Smoky Gray, and there’s also some good news on the price front; MSRP remains at $4,099, same as last year.
