2024 Honda Gold Wing Preview

New colors for the 2024 Honda Gold Wing.

Honda’s venerable Gold Wing is back in North America for 2024. Shown is a 2023 base model, but it’s unchanged this year.Honda

Whenever American Honda announces its returning new motorcycle models for the year, there’s always a few whispers from the corners of the internet about whether this will be the last time around for the brand’s Gold Wing flagship (especially after it was discontinued in Japan last year). Almost 50 years is a long time for any model on the production line, so we’re stoked to see King Wing back in North America. For 2024, Honda says the touring bike will be available in five trim levels, but we’re really seeing just three (the other two are simply transmission options). In short, you can choose from the Gold Wing Tour Airbag DCT; the Gold Wing Tour (in DCT or six-speed manual options); and the base Gold Wing (also in DCT or manual). None of the models see any mechanical changes for model year 2024, and are just updated with what the company calls “contemporary” color schemes.

Editor’s note: We’ve test ridden both Gold Wing versions during the 2020 Honda Gold Wing DCT MC Commute Review and 2021 Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT MC Commute Review articles and videos.

Because the long-running tourer was under the knife for substantial upgrades back in 2018—which included a reworked six-cylinder engine, the addition of a double wishbone suspension, and some serious weight loss—the only whiff of modification this year is limited to new colors. The aforementioned revisions served to widen its appeal, and incremental improvements to suspension, electronics, audio, and rider conveniences helped evolve the big Wing as well. Last year there was a navigation update (available for download on the site), but if you were hoping for upgrades like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, or simplified the handlebar controls, you’re out of luck.

Bottom line: For 2024, the venerable Wing is essentially unchanged, but you’re still getting a bucketload of touring-friendly features, with a seven-speed DCT transmission, a 7-inch TFT screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, an adjustable electric windscreen, Smart Key operation, four riding modes, traction control, and Hill Start, plus HomeLink is an available option. The liquid-cooled 1,833cc flat-six returns as smooth as ever on all trims, while the Tour version still gets its 61-liter top box with comfy integrated passenger backrest.

The 2024 Gold Wing Tour is available in six-speed manual or DCT trims, and sees this new gray/black color option. The paint uses BASF nanotechnology for a “wetter” look.Honda

For 2024, the Honda Gold Wing Tour Airbag DCT will retail for $33,000 (a $100 price increase over last year), and will be available in a Pearl White color scheme only, which also sees a blackout treatment on the wheels, engine, mufflers, and saddlebag trim.

The Gold Wing Tour and Tour DCT, meanwhile, has an MSRP of $28,700 and $29,700 respectively, with both available in either the aforementioned Pearl White, or the new Gray Metallic/Black combo, a two-tone treatment that also runs with blacked-out wheels engine, mufflers, and other details. Bronze accents also appear on the engine cases.

The trunkless Gold Wing bagger is also available in DCT or six-speed manual transmission and gets this new matte green color for 2024.Honda

The base model, or what we like to call the Wing bagger, is also available in DCT or six-speed manual transmission. The manual Gold Wing will cost you $24,700, while the Gold Wing DCT adds $1,000 to that, with an MSRP of $25,700. Both models are offered in just one hue, the new Matte Armored Green Metallic, which gets the blacked-out treatment on its lower half. Wheels, engine, cases, and mufflers all go dark, making for a nice contrast to the cool new green upper.

Full-featured 7-inch screen allows Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and now has a Homelink option. Honda dropped a navigation update last year as well.Honda
