2024 Honda CBR600RR Preview

Honda finally overhauls its beloved CBR600RR supersport.

Honda delivers a redesigned CBR600RR to the European market for the 2024 model year.Honda

After an 11-year platform freeze, Honda Motor Europe shows off its new 2024 CBR600RR from the EICMA Motorcycle Show. Big Red’s supersport is part of Honda’s CBR sportbike series, which is known for its racy design, performance capabilities, and track-focused agility. Aesthetically, the CBR600RR appears similar in shape and outward appearance to the CBR1000RR superbike which we tested during the 2021 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP First Ride Review and 2021 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP MC Commute Review articles and videos.

Editor’s note: We tested the outgoing version during the 2020 Honda CBR600RR ABS MC Commute Review article and video.

The 2024 CBR600RR appears leaner and meaner and follows the design language of Honda’s CBR1000RR superbike.Honda

The CBR600RR is powered by a high-revving 599cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine. This engine is known for its responsive throttle and strong midrange power. The updated version is good for 119 ponies and 46 lb.-ft. torque at the crank accounting to Honda Motor Europe.

The CBR600RR continues to use its signature undertail exhaust, which was a popular design trait in the late 2000s.Honda

It rolls on a new lightweight twin-spar aluminum frame designed to provide stability and responsive handling. Suspension components include a 41mm Showa Big Piston inverted fork and Pro-Link Showa shock.

Official technical specifications and pricing haven’t been released but we’re glad to hear Honda’s producing a new CBR600RR.Honda

But the big news is in the modern electronics package highlighted by a six-axis IMU (similar chip to what’s in modern smartphones giving the vehicle positional awareness [in relation to the road] in roll, yaw, and pitch axis). This powers the adjustable riding modes, lean-angle-sensitive cornering ABS, and nine-level traction control (Honda calls it Honda Selectable Torque Control).

Honda’s 600 sportbike returns to the European market after a six-year hiatus. No word on official technical specifications and price, nor whether it will make its way to North America for 2024.
