EBR Teams With Hero MotoCorp for 2013 AMA Superbike Series

India’s Hero MotoCorp will return in 2013 as the title sponsor of the Team Hero EBR 1190RS in the 2013 AMA Pro Racing American Superbike series. Geoff May will be the lead rider for Team Hero, and will be joined by Mike Fitzgerald as crew chief, along with last year’s crew of Ryan Kelly and Grant Singely. Several Hero technicians are expected to work with the team to hone their expertise for future racing in India.

Hero MotoCorp might be the biggest motorcycle manufacturer you’ve never heard of. In 2012 Hero sold more than six million motorcycles and scooters, the most by any manufacturer in terms of unit volume in a calendar year. Hero’s technology alliance with Erik Buell Racing benefits both partners.

The AMSOIL/Hero team also returns for 2013 with Aaron Yates aboard an EBR 1190RS. Yates’s team will include the proven AMA Superbike experience of Evan Steel as crew chief. Steel will be joined by Phil Allison and Willie Vass, who have years of AMA Superbike experience with Steel.

The core teams will also add Robbie Jensen for suspension work, and Mike Kirkpatrick for transportation and logistics. Michael Tjon, who has been at the track with EBR since the first outing, will be focusing on powertrain development as the lead on this work in East Troy. EBR ran stock engines all of last season, so there’s room for improvement.
