Dual-Sport Sportster From Carducci Dual Sport

If you’re fed up with your Harley buddies calling your Sportster a chick bike, here’s your chance to show them how big your knobs are. The SC3 Adventure Sportster conversion from Carducci Dual Sport starts with a ’93-’03 XL and turns it into an on- or off-road V-twin capable of going places that would leave Big Twins hiking up their fender skirts in horror.

The hand-built dual-Sporty uses a stock frame with minor modifications, adds an Ohlins 48mm USD fork mounted in strong triple clamps with an integrated Scotts steering damper, and rounds out the suspension package with Ohlins twin rear shocks supporting an extended billet-aluminum swingarm. A 90/90-21 front wheel and a 140/80-18 rear offer good off-road handling and accept popular dual-sport and off-road rubber. A front halogen headlight (an LED version is optional) and LED brake light and turn signals help the SC3 stand out, and a welded steel crash bar mounts to the frame and protects the leading edge of the gas tank.

Many stock XL parts are retained, such as the engine; the rear brake caliper, rotor, master cylinder, and axle; the instruments; the oil tank; and the throttle and handlebar switches.

There's just one hitch: the SC3 Adventure Conversion isn't in production yet, as Carducci is still developing a business plan to offer it for sale. You can keep on top of the latest news about the SC3 Adventure at the company's website.
