National Motorcycle Museum Press Release:
The most all-American form of motorcycle racing is without doubt, dirt track. Born on horse racing tracks, man and machine have been dueling it out in the dirt for a century. During the glory days of flat track racing, ranging from 1954 to 1985, winning the Grand National Championship called for extreme talent. Riders had to be masters of the mile, half-mile, short track, and TT; as well as earn enough roadracing points to lock up the GNC. The National Motorcycle Museum's "Dirt Track Heroes" exhibit will feature the bikes and riders of this exciting period and the heroes that followed up through the 1990′s.
The Dirt Track Heroes exhibit in Anamosa, Iowa will be completed in mid-May, with a dedication ceremony on June 8th as part of the 2013 Vintage Rally, June 8th & 9th.
