Bridgestone Debuts Battlax S23 Sportbike Tires for 2024

For the 2024 calendar year, Bridgestone introduces the successor to its Battlax S22 (and original Battlax S21) radial sportbike tire, the Bridgestone Battlax S23. This is a high-performance streetbike tire designed for sport motorcycles. It will be OE-fitment on a variety of new motorcycles from Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, including the recently announced ‘24 MT-09 and MT-09 SP. It’s positioned alongside other manufacturers’ tires like Dunlop’s Sportmax Q5S. It will be available for sale in America beginning January 2024 in six sizes (120/70-17 front; 160/60-17, 180/55-17, 190/50-17, 190/55-17, 200/55-17 rears).

Bridgestone has been offering its curiously named and often mispronounced Battlax generation tire for 40 years. During that time the Japanese tire manufacturer has honed its tires into well-rounded products that perform in virtually any road conditions.

Beginning with the tread pattern, the S23 features an aggressive and innovative tread pattern designed to provide excellent grip and handling in both wet and dry conditions. It also benefits from its “Pulse Groove Technology” which Bridgestone says boosts stability and handling feel in both wet and dry road surfaces.

Bridgestone continues to employ a dual-compound design that gives rider’s the best of both worlds: more grip at higher lean angles and greater durability during straight-line rides. For 2024, the S23 gets a fresh shoulder compound that balances grip, longevity, and performance.

As usual the Battlax S23 is a do-it-all tire solution making it suitable for street and trackday riders who enjoy spirited riding. Bridgestone claims that its fresh product is faster in terms of lap times during official testing on a Yamaha YZF-R1 superbike at Kawasaki’s Autopolis Speedway (in Japan) and on a BMW S 1000 RR at Bridgestone’s Japanese proving grounds.
