Part of the fun of owning a motorcycle is making it your own with personal touches to make it stand out from the crowd. The folks at Star Motorcycles decided it would be even more fun to see what professional customizers could do with the Star Bolt, so they sent one to each of 10 top shops, and since there’s nothing like a little friendly competition to get the juices flowing, they called it the Bolt Custom Build-Off. And now a winner has been chosen.
Votes were tallied via social media and in the end the DT/XT/TT-inspired Bolt custom built by Dave Hagemen of Doc’s Chops took top honors. Second spot went to Sam Nehme of Broward Motorsports with a springer custom-bobber Bolt. The final step on the podium belonged to Mike McFadden of M&M Customs with a racy take on the Bolt.
In the better-luck-next-time category were Low & Mean, Chappell Customs, Sesto Custom Cycles, Burly Brand, Palhegyi Designs, Roland Sands Designs, and Rooke Customs, who all turned in great efforts.
