3-Time World Champ Angelle Sampey Announces Return To Pro Stock Motorcycle Racing

Pro Stock Motorcycle's Star Racing team owner George Bryce filled a recently vacated spot on his race team with Angelle Sampey-Drago, a three-time NHRA world champion and one of the sport’s winningest female competitors in a pro category with 41 event wins. Sampey retired in 2010 due to lack of sponsorship. As she resumes her career with Star Racing, Sampey-Drago will find herself within striking range of the current national event win record of 45 held by Superbike Dave Schultz.

Sampey made her NHRA debut in 1996, and won her first championship in 2000. She followed up with a second world title in 2001 and also became became the winningest female racer in NHRA history by surpassing the legendary Shirley Muldowney. She literally dominated the Pro Stock Motorcycle class during the early 2000s, earning her third straight world championship in ’02. Sampey-Drago is currently running tests on her Star Racing Buell and is scheduled to return before the end of the 2014 season. Welcome back Angelle!
