Michelin took advantage of the crowds at Biketoberfest in Daytona to unveil its latest Commander line of tires, the Commander III Cruiser and Commander III Touring.
Both are intended to provide enhanced ride performance over the Commander II, with a particular focus on wet-weather capabilities for cruisers, baggers, and other large touring rigs. They feature new tread compounds and tread patterns, enhancing wet condition grip and improving longevity, according to Michelin.
"Michelin developed this tire line to optimize riding enjoyment with a focus on improving the tread life and wet grip versus the already widely accepted Commander II tire line," said Shane Messner, director of two-wheel at Michelin North America, in a company press release. "The commitment to Michelin Total Performance makes the Michelin Commander III tire line the trusted choice for the V-twin community."
What's more, Michelin is offering riders the chance to become a Commander III tire ambassador. By signing up, you'll have access to a $50 rebate with the purchase of a set of Commander III tires, which must be claimed by February 29, 2020. And beyond that, for every five referrals ambassadors will receive $100 in MasterCard rewards cards. You must sign up here by December 31, 2019, in order to be considered.
There’s no mention of pricing or size runs planned for the Commander III tires just yet, but we expect it to become a fast favorite among V-twin and large, luxury touring riders considering the popularity of the Commander II.
