There are many different types of youth riders out there. Those who want to putt around in circles all day, those who want to see what’s at the top of that hill, and then there are the little thrashers who want to send it off the big jumps, blow up berms, and annihilate the competition. If your kid is of the latter category, then the KTM 50 SX might be the right choice. This little bike is not a toy; like the rest of KTM’s SX line, it is ready to race: 100 percent bred for serious competition. The lightweight chassis, engine, and bodywork are scaled down from the full-sized SX dirt bikes, built to offer the same aggressive performance for youth riders.
A single-gear automatic transmission means no clutch or shifting coordination. It also means a very loud wail from the high-revving 50cc two-stroke engine that the neighbors might find shrill. Adjustable ergonomics on both models accommodate growing youngsters. Height-adjustable suspension, handlebar position, subframe, and bodywork make it possible to adjust from a 25.7-inch seat height to 26.8 inches.
The 2025 KTM 50 SX is unchanged from the previous model year, and once again comes with a Factory Edition option—again, just like the big bikes. The KTM 50 SX Factory Edition looks like it’s straight out of the KTM factory paddock, with graphics, orange gripper seat, FMF full exhaust system, a Hinson clutch cover, and gold chain. The Factory Edition also receives Dunlop Geomax MX53 tires and a hydraulic Formula brake system.
The 2025 KTM 50 SX is available in standard trim for $4,949, and a Factory Edition for $5,849.
