If you’re into supermoto, you already know all about the 450 SMR, as it’s one of the only full-blown supermoto race machines on the market. Unlike street-legal “supermoto” machines, the SMR is a closed-course racer with zero compromises.
The SMR’s liquid-cooled 450cc single features a single overhead cam and a five-speed transmission just like the 450 SX-F that it shares the engine with. Unique to the SMR is the Suter slipper clutch which prevents locking and hopping when quick downshifts are made while braking entering corners. Electronic rider aids include launch control, engine maps, traction control, and a quickshifter.
Also unique to the SMR is the frame that has rigidity which is optimized for supermoto. Supermoto-specific suspension includes a 48mm WP Xact air-spring fork that also has provisions for rebound and compression damping. The WP Xact shock is fully adjustable with high- and low-speed compression damping, rebound, and preload adjustment.
Wheels are by Alpina and come in 16.5-inch front and 17-inch rear sizes. Metzeler Racetec SM K1 supermoto tires measure 125/75-16.5 front and 165/55-17 rear sizes. The braking package included a race-spec Brembo radial-mount four-piston caliper that is fed by a radial master cylinder and pinches a 310mm wave rotor. A single-piston caliper and 220mm disc are used at the rear.
The orange, white, and black with purple accents 2024 KTM 450 SMR has a retail price of $11,999.
