2025 Honda CRF450X

From the Baja 1000 to casual trail riding, Honda’s big X is a popular pick.

Honda’s CRF450X off-road motorcycle is the winningest vehicle in the history of the SCORE International Baja 1000, and also a favorite among trail riders.Honda

Overview

Another relative in the CRF450 family, the off-road-oriented CRF450X is the trail riding specialist of the bunch. With softer suspension and a tamer power delivery than its R and RX counterparts, the big X can track through technical terrain like rocks, roots, bumps, and branches with ease. A six-speed transmission (as opposed to five) with a wide ratio, larger fuel tank, headlight, hand guards, and kickstand give the CRF450X long-range versatility to head out on longer rides on the trails. It can easily cruise at tame speeds for novice-level riders, and is also capable of running a solid race pace, drawing on its competitive CRF450 roots. Although it is not sold as a street-legal dual sport model, the CRF450X meets emissions standards in order to be 50-state year-round off-road legal, and receive California green sticker registration.

The SCORE International Baja 1000 is the Honda CRF450X’s claim to fame. The CRF450X is the winningest vehicle (two- or four-wheel) in the history of the Baja 1000, carding its 17th Pro Moto Unlimited victory at the 57th running of the race in 2024. Honda’s big X was the bike of choice for 11-time champion Johnny Campbell (transitioning from the mighty XR650R midway through his career), and continues to be the weapon of choice for Mark Samuels and the SLR Honda squad, as well as countless support-class competitors in SCORE Baja racing.

A headlight, kickstand, and six-speed gearbox make the CRF450X off-roader a very versatile dirt bike.Honda
