Ducati North America and Pikes Peak International Hill Climb have established a GoFundMe campaign in honor of the late Carlin Dunne, who passed away in competition at the event on June 30, 2019. Proceeds from the account will go to Dunne's mother, Romie, to help with expenses and to honor his legacy as one of the most celebrated racers at Pikes Peak in recent memory.
Dunne won top honors on the mountain four times, and was on his way to a fifth title by all accounts aboard a Ducati Streetfighter V4 prototype. A tragic accident near the finish line claimed the 36-year-old racer’s life.
In addition to being a formidable competitor at Pikes Peak, Dunne was also a mentor to new racers at the event. He also competed in the Score Baja 500 and Score Baja 1000, challenged for the top step in the Super Hooligan series and chased land-speed records at Bonneville.
PPHIC officials estimated his finishing time would have been 9:32 in this year’s race at Pikes Peak, so have made a donation of $932 to pay homage to what would have been an astounding new course record.
If you would like to support Dunne’s family in this difficult time, visit the Carlin Dunne GoFundMe Campaign. It’s the only official channel for donations at this time.
