Dunlop Motorcycle Tires will be amping up the support for the American Flat Track series this year through 2019. By adding a second tire option and increasing racer contingency payouts, the brand is raising the technical support for riders in the series.
Choosing between two Dunlop DT3 tire compound options allows the racers to match tire setup to specific track conditions on race day in order to give it their all. This will introduce strategy to flat track racing as well as create a closer competition. The option to choose between tires will be at select rounds for the AFT Twins class. The race venues will be announced in advance, and the DT3 options will be offered for trackside sales to AFT Twins teams. In order to make this race-day option more affordable, the second compound purchased will be billed at a 50 percent discount.
Dunlop has made a nearly 300 percent increase in contingency offerings and will expand the payout to first- through fifth-place finishers in both the AFT Twins and AFT Singles classes. Payout is as follows for the respective finishers: $500, $400, $300, $200 and $100.
“Dunlop is bringing an expanded degree of support to the AFT series in two important ways,” said Michael Lock, CEO of AMA Pro Racing. “This new contingency program benefits a greater number of racers, and the new tire options will result in better racing as well. We are proud to have Dunlop as a partner, a company which understands racing and is fully committed to helping us grow the sport.”
“A made-in-America series such as American Flat Track deserves the best made-in-America tires, and that’s what we offer with the Dunlop DT3,” said Mike Buckley, Dunlop Motorcycle’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Dunlop is the only brand developing and manufacturing motorcycle tires in the U.S.A. and the additions to the DT3 offerings, which is manufactured in our Buffalo, NY, plant, is a great example of our commitment to help grow and evolve the sport.”
