Dallas Daniels is an up-and-coming motorcycle racer in the MotoAmerica Junior Cup, and also a longtime friend of the Hayden family. As such, Daniels was selected to debut a special Arai Corsair-X helmet created in honor of the late Nicky Hayden on MotoAmerica Live+ on July 12. The commemorative lid pays homage to Hayden’s 2006 victory at Laguna Seca in MotoGP, the same year he went on to win the title.
“My family and the Hayden family have been close for years,” Daniels said. “Nicky was a big inspiration in my life and my childhood hero, so being able to wear his replica helmet is just a dream come true.”
Hayden passed away in 2017 after being struck by a motorist while riding his bicycle. Since then, Dorna has retired his number 69 from the MotoGP championship, he’s been inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, and honored by friends and loved ones all over the world.
Daniels currently runs the #69 in the MotoAmerica Junior Cup, and while wearing the honorary lid went on to take second-place in last weekend’s race at Laguna Seca.
This latest honor from Arai commemorates Hayden with the familiar American flag stars and red, white, and blue colorway, underpinned with a camo pattern that as a whole will be instantly familiar to any of Hayden’s fans. The Corsair-X is one of Arai’s premier helmets, packing the best of what Arai has to offer in terms of design and protection. Arai hasn’t yet indicated when the Hayden Laguna will be available.
