Arai have announced the new Regent-X helmet, a lid that carries the same protective features as the brand's flagship Corsair-X with some notable updates aimed at improving comfort and convenience.
The Regent-X gets a revised shell, with the shape of the jawline expanded by 5mm to make putting the helmet on and taking it off easier. That update is complemented by a new Facial Contour System cheek pad arrangement which employs articulating pads that move up and down when you put the helmet on and take it off. Arai states that these pads will contour to your face when the helmet is on, and will help to reduce noise while riding. The pads are also designed with recessed pockets for speakers. Different sized cheek pads will be available to customize fit further.
Arai uses its new Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction shell in the Regent-X. This method uses a new resin that is more cost-effective than previous resins while still providing the same level of protection without adding weight. The upper ridge of the eye port is also reinforced by Arai’s Peripheral Belt, a custom in-house woven belt of super fibers that keeps the helmet strong without adding weight or thickness.
Inside is a single piece, multi-density impact liner crafted to provide optimum protection in areas riders need it most. There’s also revised chin curtain that helps to reduce road noise and facilitate better ventilation through the helmet. The neck roll is also new, shaped to improve fit and reduce overall weight.
The Regent-X meets or exceeds Snell M2020 safety standards, and is classified as an intermediate oval head shape. It will be available mid-December in a variety of solid colors and graphic options. Solid color versions will carry a price tag of $559.95 and graphics options will be $689.95.
