AMA Pro Racing is deeply saddened by the tragic passing of American Flat Track competitor Jamison Minor (21) and extends heartfelt condolences to his family.
Minor, a New Hampshire native, was involved in a multi-bike accident on the first lap of the AFT Singles race during Saturday’s event in Charlotte. Emergency medical personnel were on scene and responded to the incident within seconds. Minor was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
"Jamison exemplified the spirit of the sport and the entire American Flat Track community is in mourning today,” said Michael Lock, CEO of AMA Pro Racing. “He was impressive on and off the race track, with a positive, upbeat attitude that showed the markings of a future star. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."
AFT Pro Singles racer Dalton Gauthier posted his response to his friend and competitor on social media earlier today:
"RIP [Jamison Minor] gonna miss racing with you every weekend. It tears me apart that you're gone. We were such close friends Jay ride hard up there for me like you always did. Godspeed #27 we will meet again. My heart goes out to Jamison and his whole family."
AFT Pro Twins racer Brad "The Bullet" Baker offered his sympathy as well:
"My heart hurts after hearing about the passing of another amazing young racer, [Jamison Minor]. I wasn't very close with Jamison but many of my good friends were. They all say that he was kind and respectful and was always a joy to spend time with. My condolences go out to his family and close friends. Race in peace JM27!!"
