5 Features We Love About GoPro’s New HERO5 Action Cameras

This morning GoPro released full details on its long-awaited HERO5 Black and HERO5 Session, as well as information on the all-new Karma drone (click here for a First Look at the Karma drone). Of the many new, updated, or improved features added to the Black and Session, here are the five we're most excited about.

1 // No case required. Like the HERO4 Session released last summer, the new HERO5 Black is waterproof all on its own. It also has a 2-inch touch LCD as on the previous HERO4 Silver.
2 // Smooth and stable. Integrated image stabilization reduces vibration for smoother, clearer video. That should prove to be a big benefit for motorcyclists.
3 // Photos in the RAW. The Black model shoots 12MP photos in RAW format. The GoPro already snapped great stills, and now you'll be able to run these detail-rich images through the editing software of your choice to fully optimize your photos.
4 // Can you hear me now? The Black camera will have stereo audio recording (via three microphones) and advanced wind-noise reduction should deliver clearer, more dynamic sound.
5 // Mount up! Both the HERO5 Black and HERO5 Session are compatible with all existing GoPro mounts, so we can keep using all the clamps, strap, sticky, and other mounts we already have.

Pricing is set at $399 for the HERO5 Black and $299 for the tiny HERO5 Session. Both cameras will be available October 2nd at www.gopro.com.
