2020 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty And Scout 100th Anniversary

Indian Motorcycle celebrates 100 years of the Scout with two new variants.

Indian Motorcycle looks back to the introduction of its original 1920 Scout for the inspiration for two new models. The Scout 100th Anniversary is on the left. The Scout Bobber Twenty seen here on the right is fitted with Indian’s new 2-into-1 accessory exhaust.Indian Motorcycle

The Scout platform has been a sales success for Indian Motorcycle, so it should be no surprise that Indian would leverage the centenary of the first Scout with an homage (or two) to that landmark original.

Headed to dealers now are the Scout Bobber Twenty and the limited-edition Scout 100th Anniversary models, both of which lean on styling inspirations from Scouts of yore. Indian announced the original Scout in autumn of 1919 and began production for the 2020 model year.

“The Indian Scout has stood the test of time as one of the most influential, iconic, and recognizable motorcycles in the world,” said Reid Wilson, vice president for Indian Motorcycle. “One hundred years is an incredibly special milestone, and it made perfect sense to honor Scout’s history and legacy with these two heritage-inspired 2020 models.”

The Scout 100th Anniversary model harkens back to the original with its Indian Motorcycle Red color accented by gold trim, as well as with its black wire wheels and beach-style handlebar, a floating tan leather seat, and a luggage rack. It’s finished off by a color-matched Scout 100th-anniversary badge and various chrome finishes. Indian is limiting global production to 750 units.

The second model variant to capitalize on the original 1920 Scout is the Scout Bobber Twenty, which also uses wire wheels and nifty floating saddle to stand apart from other Scouts. It features a mix of chrome and blacked-out finishes and an apehanger handlebar that delivers, according to Indian, “old-school bobber style with relaxed ergonomics.”

The Scout Bobber Twenty is available in three colors. Sagebrush Smoke and Burnished Metallic are both fitted with ABS and retail for $12,899. Thunder Black can also be had with ABS for the same price or without ABS for $11,999.

2020 Scout Upgrades

The 2020 Scout lineup still includes the Scout, Scout Sixty and Scout Bobber, all of which receive improved braking components, including new master cylinders, calipers, and floating rotors.

The entry-level Scout remains the Scout Sixty, starting at just $8,999 in Thunder Black; ABS adds $800 to its MSRP. More visual pop is available with two color options: Burgundy Metallic and Pearl White over Titanium Metallic.

The regular Indian Scout now features a sport seat and passenger pegs and has a starting price of $11,499 in Thunder Black, the only colorway available without ABS (an $800 option). Several new colors are available, including White Smoke, Deepwater Metallic, and Metallic Jade. Also available is the classic Indian Motorcycle Red over Ivory Cream with gold pinstriping.

The Scout Bobber, the best-selling Scout, is now fitted with Pirelli MT 60 RS tires and has a reduced entry price of $10,999 in Thunder Black (ABS is an $800 option). Also available are a matte Thunder Black Smoke, Deepwater Metallic, Bronze Smoke, and White Smoke.

Scout Touring Accessories

You can take your Scout into more of a touring direction with this new accessory fairing. Its 2-inch windscreen can alternately be capped by optional 5-inch or 7-inch windshields. It retails for $1,100.Indian Motorcycle

If you like to take your Scout for long rides, Indian is introducing a few appealing touring accessories for the platform. The highlight is a quick-release fairing that appears like a shrunken Chieftain’s, kinda like Harley’s Sport Glide is to a Street Glide. It’s retrofittable to any Scout and is capped with a 2-inch windshield.

Cargo room can be augmented by weather-resistant and semi-rigid quick-release saddlebags that will be available later this year. The solo luggage rack is now available in gloss black as well as chrome, and it can be topped by a solo rack bag.

Scout Performance Accessories

If you're looking for more bark and more bite for your Scout, Indian is promising both with its new accessory exhaust, a 2-into-1 full system ($1,300) purported to yield an increase in horsepower of more than 10 percent. It's available in chrome or matte black, as is a shorty slip-on accessory muffler option. Both fit, says Indian, 2019 and 2020 Scouts, but we'd guess they would also fit earlier Polaris-era vintages.
